Brown Patches On Utensils

Day 7: Lakes Cheserys - Planpraz

  • D +: 687

  • D-: 917m

  • distance: 10 km

  • time with breaks: 6:00

On 17 July, when we fell asleep under the stars, we were awakened about 3 o'clock in the morning by the thunder. An hour later, we are under the flood and we do not sleep much. We are absolutely alone in the mountains and indeed not very reassured. Around 7 am, a short lull allows us to take the air out and warm up the coffee. It is just hot we go again, another two hours of rain to wait at the shelter. This time the wind picked up and our tent (without fly) reaches its limits and we need to bail in the corners ...

The rain finally stopped and we can climb to the refuge of White Lake, where we have coffee and news about the weather, which again looks difficult in the afternoon. We leave so soon, towards the neck of the Index. The former station of chairlift offers a shelter for lunch. Others have even spent the night by building a dorm area with orange blanket protection for skiers. Not bad ...
We hesitate between the chairlift back down with the index and then the cable car Flegere, or complete our turn to Planpraz gondola. For now it's not raining, so we decided to finish our tour as planned, and we started to attack our very last pass, the Col de la Gliere.
You will have noticed, few pictures this last day. Batteries for strument tired, rain and fog explain this gap. This is the only photo of the day, taken just after the neck of the Gliere.

So we go next to the Aiguille rotten, lakes and lakes Cornus blacks, but seeing nothing. We lack even get lost in this passage a mile where the road turns and returns on the ridges.

When the trail finally decides to go down, the rain took the opportunity to begin to fall. We did not-or hardly-been wet so far, but this time we will be served: the more we get closer to the gondola Planpraz, and more rain redoubled in intensity, so that when we finally reach the goal we are absolutely soaked. Note that this path crosses several boulders, but fortunately for us it was very well arranged, the stone slabs are perfectly arranged and sometimes it feels like a Roman alley!

Following a breakdown of the gondola Planpraz, we still have to wait almost two hours before they descend into the valley, accompanied by English backpackers. Fortunately, nothing to make us miss our night train, which started around 20 hours of Saint Gervais. Thus ends
this third ride of seven days, we are proud to have led to the end. We even made, a bonus not provided, the ascent of Mount Buet.
For those wishing to embark on a similar adventure, here are some tips we can give: Skip Dérochoir in the direction of the climb, paying attention to some passages (the Chords, Dérochoir, Platières, Mont Buet) if bad weather, plan a night to cottages Villy or refuge to Stone Berard if you want to try Mount Buet, pass the balcony of Mont Blanc in the north-east => south-west for the Mont Blanc face, do not miss the valley of Foges, Lake Anterne, balconies Mont Blanc, and if possible Platières, the Chavanne Villy, the Col de la Gliere.

If you liked our experience, do not hesitate to leave a few brief comments.
